ASK
a complementary look and feel for three meetings, plus layout of print items

Situation

Iveric Bio (later acquired by Astellas) was a biopharmaceutical company developing therapies for eye conditions. They planned three advisory boards in Singapore, Dubai, and Panama to gather insights from local eye care professionals. Each event needed its own identity, but the series had to feel cohesive.

Approach

The creative director developed initial options using one city as a test case. We ultimately chose a watercolor collage style — elegant and location-specific. For Singapore and Dubai, stock watercolor collages of landmarks were available. For Panama, they were not.

I had to reverse-engineer the existing images’ colors, texture, and composition to create a matching Panama collage from scratch. This meant hours of experimentation with brush textures, opacity, and blending modes until the new piece sat naturally alongside the stock images.

Print assets varied slightly by event but included:

  • 1 roll-up banner per city

  • 1 meeting room sign

  • Per attendee (15–20), items varied slightly for each event: agenda, name tent card, gift tag, journal, departure notice, transfer sign

Last-minute reality: Details like flight numbers and hotel info for Dubai didn’t finalize until right before print. I built the departure notice layout to be easily editable, so these 11th-hour changes didn’t break the design or require a full redo.

Impact

  • Invisible problem-solving – The client never knew one city’s artwork was custom-made. All three looked like a planned set.

  • Handled real-world chaos – Late-breaking travel details were incorporated without stress or rush fees.

  • Return client – Iveric Bio commissioned other events from us on different themes afterward.
